Delegate trip to GOP Convention

Organized by Dennis Rothacker

The Story So Far...
Hi, my name is Dennis Rothacker, for those of you who don't know. For most of my life, I've had a big interest in politics, but as I've grown older, I've come to realize that most politicians are full of it, don't represent my beliefs and even fewer of them actually do what they have sworn to do; uphold and defend the Constitution!

Fast forward to about a year ago: a very close friend of mine and myself are discussing the latest crop of "candidates" who were vying for the office of President. At that time I was very displeased with all of the candidates I'd heard of up until that point. Then he said, "well what do you think of Ron Paul?" I hadn't heard of him at that point and said I'd have to check him out. So I did and it was instantly like a light went off. This is the kind of candidate I'd been looking for all along!

So instantly I got as involved as I could with the Ron Paul campaign for President. It wasn't uncommon to find me out on the corners of major intersections waving signs, going door-to-door talking to voters, handing out literature at malls and events of other candidates (who have since abandoned the Presidential campaign.) It's been quite an interesting ride, and we've since gone into the second phase of the campaign, so there's not as much out on the street type activities. I've become a Committeeman in the local Republican Party and was selected as a Delegate to the National Convention, which is why I've started this page. It is very expensive to go to. So if you can donate anything, it would be much appreciated.

But back to why I support Ron Paul and why you should too. There are many challenges we are facing as a country at this time, and they really wouldn't be problems if we were to obey the Constitutuion. Most disturbing among these is pre-emptive war and not deferring to Congress for permission to go to war. Think about this for a second; our country has not had a single Constitutional war since WWII. That means that whoever the usurper in power at the time skipped asking Congress for approval and went straight to war. Whether it was Clinton with Kosovo, the Bush's with Iraq, Afghanistan and from the look of it, Iran pretty soon, or the great debaucle that was Vietnam. It's very easy to see where all of this warring has gotten us, just look at the current state of affairs within our country. As a leader, Ron Paul is a man you can depend on not to lead us into these dangers. He has never voted for any bill or piece of legislation that the Constitution does not authorize. He's a true Republican who believes in small government, the rule of law and the thought that we as individuals are the best ones to run our own lives, not needing some politicians to tell us how to.

More to come very soon...
